The Shinys! The Shinys are so Shiny!

Posted by The Directors

Well, despite my better judgment (and my pocketbook), I've purchased my camera!
So there's one less thing to worry about (at least in terms of Baroness not my pocketbook) and that's thrilling to me. It's a Canon VIXIA 2.96 hi-def HV30. I love it already. Though I haven't met it yet. Anyway, I'm super happy that I'm going to be getting this, plus I've replaced (or will, once it's here) the camera for my parents-- and a new battery.

Sigh! At least it's coming. Now all I can hope for is that we get some more people interested in acting for us, because I'm running out of ideas. Anyway. Wheee!

The Family Jewels

Posted by The Directors

So, obviously we didn't move to wordpress. Wanted to, but unfortunately it wasn't going to be much better if I moved there anyway. So, I guess we'll stay until the next crisis. I really don't have time to change things now.

As for Baroness, we've hit a few bumps in the road. Life has been rather chaotic for everyone and it's been putting a hold on our getting things done. The script is close to being finished, but is still ever-looming. We've got two months to finish that, get everyone cast and several costumes finished before June. Hold a garage sale, praying that people will actually show up, I have to purchase a camera with whatever money I happen to have at the time. I'm a little scared about that as I don't have a lot of time to save the full amount, but if I can purchase it on a payment plan and of course keep up my payments, maybe I can work something out.

So much to do.

Anyway, I've made some progress in the accessories department. Took me the whole day, but I was able to complete (at least as complete as they can be until I finish buying supplies) four jewelry pieces. I'm not crafty by any means, so me actually creating something from scratch, with no guidance other than photos I've seen, is a shock. I feel rather accomplished considering. I have to go buy clasps for one, and hooks for earrings, some more glass pearls and then pin backs for one of the pieces so it can be attached to the dress. I have pin backs now, but they're large enough you can tell they're there. I'm not usually a perfectionist about stuff like that, but as this is a period, 16th century film, I have this neurotic desire to make it as accurately as I can.

Even though it's about a bunch of girls learning how to use swords and beating men up... Which... Really isn't... Accurate. Much...

But despite that, the costumes and the jewelry will be as accurate as it can be with what we have.

So, not the greatest, but I'm pretty proud of how they turned out.

Well, I have stuff to do, so I'll be going. Hope we can get it all together.

So, I came to the blog today to see that our background images have disappeared, so until I figure out what's going on, bear with this crappy template. I'll have to find a better one.

Can't Touch This.

Posted by The Directors

Well, I was going to post something, but then I found this: Can'tBelieveSomeoneActuallyDidThis.

And now I have very little to compete with it.

Well, Sara and I are still plugging away at the script, I was able to complete another scene last night and I believe (I'd have to look at our plot outline) I only have one or two more to write. Which, I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful that'll feel, once it's complete on my end. I've been procrastinating to no end. Usually I have the burning desire to write and write when I'm extremely busy, probably because my brain is tired of dealing with crap I don't even want to do. Like last block, it was math. I never feel the need to know math, as I can't seem to catch a break with it, so of course I wanted to do other things. I also had ten million things I had to get done and not a single one of them was film related.

Now that I have time, I keep telling myself "Oh, I can do it tomorrow."

Well NO MORE.

I'm getting my half done and then moving on to cleaning up and getting things organized.

There will be more later, I'm just heading out to lunch with my mom and then taking pictures for my mom's SHOP FEATURE on Etsy.com on the 14th and then perhaps more writing... Ironic I almost typed "writhing". Why yes, I will be writhing, with the pain of writer's block. Imagine.

~*~*Edit*~*~

Well, I said I would be back, but I don't really have much to add. I think I don't anyway.

So Celtx is evil... Celtx ate Jaina's script file. Celtx better watch its back or it's going to get a nasty surprise.

Costumes!

Posted by The Directors

Well, because I'm tired of feeling sorry for myself about the auditions, I thought I would post photos of the patterns I've bought in the last few weeks. I may have gone a little overboard in buying as many as I did, but they were all on sale, so I don't feel too bad. Hancock has been having a ton of sales in the last month and that included Simplicity and McCall's patterns.

Let me tell you why this is significant and relevant to our interests.

Typically Simplicity patterns run between $9.99 and $18.00 a pattern while McCall's is never less than $16.95 to $20.00+ a pattern. For an independent film that has no budget, that's not at all feasible. However thanks to these sales the first set of patterns were 5 for $1.00, so I spent about $10.00, while McCall's patterns were on sale for 99¢ and I spent about $12.00. The first batch, had I paid full price, would have cost me probably $160+ while this batch would have cost about $215.35.

Yes, I did the math. That way I can pat myself on the back for saving so much cash. And I did.

So, now that we've cleared that up. I think I've got as many patterns as we need. A few of them aren't full costumes, but pieces (like bodices, skirts, pants, shirts) so we can mix and match or just make what we need depending on who we get, once we've cast everyone. Now that that's out of the way, we need to start buying fabric for the costumes we know we have a body for. I'm waiting for measurements, but once we get them, I'm going to Hancock to take advantage of the fabric sales. Apparently they have cottons on sale for $1.00 yard. This is a big deal as well, as most fabric costs about $3-$4+ a yard. This might include just buying a few bolts if it's not too costly. That way we don't have to keep going back for more if we run out of a specific yardage. We have a lot of shirts/pants to make, since in total, we're going to have at least 14 men that need outfits, unless we happen to get people who have Elizabethanesque shirts/pants at their disposal as well as four chemises for our female characters.

And that's just for the cotton. That doesn't include the fancier fabric for the dressy dresses we have, we need at least two fancy dresses for the "ladies" of St. Alban's and two niceish but meant for women who work in the establishment dresses.

We're also going to need shoes-- I've been researching shoes that would be appropriate and I think we could find some that are close enough at Good Will or Stuff Inc. We just need to get out there. Also, maybe some jewelry for Phineas and Wendel and probably Mirielle. Those things might be the last thing we buy as it won't take as much effort as, let's say, a dress with bodice, skirt, chemise and all that.

So, now that I've rambled, here are some examples of the costumes we have patterns for and might make:

So I think either one of these would work for Mirielle (or Evie) but I really love the red one. If I ever get to go to another Ren Faire, I would ask (read: Beg) my mom to make me that one, I love it a lot. These dresses are much more accurate to the era our film is set in, 17th century during Elizabeth I's reign as queen. We thought we would have to sacrifice accuracy to have simpler costumes, but my mom (the sewer extraordinaire) let me know that it's not that difficult, just time consuming. The fabric might be a little pricey, but if we find some good sales, we're totally doing it. Oh and a person who has the patience of someone that's not... Me.

I think the dress on the left, with the green skirt, would like nice for Síne or Prudence, maybe Prudence as she's the more brainy, academic one that works on needlepoint and such but doesn't get down and dirty. I'm not sure we've really thought about what they do around the estate, but I imagine that's what she would do.

I'm not sure we'll use this one, but the photo in the top left would work for Prudence or Síne. I learned the less fabric you have in both sleeves and skirt, the less position you have in society. Which seems reasonable considering it cost more to buy fabric then then it does now... Not by much anymore, but it did, so if you didn't have the cash, you didn't have the sash. I know, lame rhyme, but you get my drift.

I thought if we were looking for a little different look for Evie, this would be appropriate. She doesn't have the type of title Mirielle has, being a Baroness, but I think it's still snooty enough to go with Evie's upbringing and standing as Mirielle's lady in waiting or something of that nature.

We will be using the chemise pictured at top right (just ignore the lady in her bloomers). We'll have to make a few of those since I think we're going to be having the ladies fight in belted chemises. I feel like that would be sort of an epic picture, when we get to our battle scene and they're in their undies so to speak, just hacking away at some arrogant men. No? I think yes.

You thought I forgot the boys, didn't you? Haha, no. Here are some shirt examples we could be using. I think the two on the right would be fine for Neil and Evander, but the poofy shirts definitely need to go to Phineas and Wendel. If not just Phineas-- He seems like a crazed poof of a man. Also-- I started giggling in the middle of the fabric store when I got a look at the Fabio wanna-be's hair.

This isn't a pattern (and I don't own the image, either, just borrowing it for reference) but I really want this jerkin for Evander. I haven't found a pattern for it at all yet, but I really really, really want it for Evander. I think the man we have playing him in the film would look fantastic in it were we to find a way to make it for his costume.

This also isn't a pattern, but I would really love to see Neil (Alan) in this. I think that would be a fabulous (albeit really warm) look for him. I personally think it goes well for what we're looking at.

No... We're not going to turn this into a POTC look alike. I bought this pattern for the pants. I couldn't find any just on their own, so I had to buy a whole pattern and will hopefully it's simple enough to extract the part that makes the pants. I'm a little concerned as there isn't really an inseam number or anything that goes into making men's pants, it' just X, XL etc. So I don't know how that's going to work, but we'll figure it out.

Here are some more shirt designs, again, I hate sketches, but this'll do in a pinch. We can use these to have more variety with our guys. I hate seeing the same pattern over and over, because it looks cheap, you can tell it was a pattern. Hopefully with these, it'll look like our characters are from different places, with different wives who sewed their shirts. I like that thought.

Here's the bodice pattern I was talking about (I won't upload the skirts because they're pretty typical) but this will help with the bodice on the bottom. Which is really an inset, so I'm hoping we can lengthen the bottom of the bodice to pull that off. I think that would work for Prudence or Síne.

Every girl needs a good cloak. Duh. I'd like to have a cloak for at least Mirielle, but who knows if we'll get it done. Also, if she can't have one, I'll have one for my Ren Faire costume, if I ever actually, get to one again ;0) Why yes, I did buy some of these with myself in mind.

Here begin the patterns we may not use, but that could easily become lifesavers if something happens or we run out of time or money, either one is equally plausible.

I'm not sure if we'll use this one either. These are little Lord of the Rings to be accurate, but if we're not able to find the fabric we need for the above costumes, we might have to go after this one. Also, I was referring to the burgundy (We'll be finding a different color, trust me) at the bottom.

I really hate that these are just sketches and not actual photos, but you get the drift. If we need to we can make what we need. We might even be able to convert this into chemises as I only have one pattern for that and we need several of them.

So this post is rather long, but I'm excited to see these costumes become reality at some point. I know there are a lot of them, but a few of the above patterns probably won't be used and if not, I'll probably resell them on eBay or something. A few them will definitely be tucked away for my Elizabethan/Renaissance costume closet that I *will* have whenever I buy my own house!

Anyway, comment away about the things you like, if you happen to know where I can find that jerkin pattern and so on. If you're someone we know and you're interested in costuming, we'll be happy to hear that you'll take on the challenge!

Until then,

Well that Was Epic Fail

Posted by The Directors

So... The auditions didn't go as hoped. Despite the hard work we put into making it a success. Although it didn't turn out that well-- it wasn't a complete disaster.

Here's what happened:
1.) I ended up running late, despite doing my best to get to Cornell at 3:30. Life called and I had to run to Iowa City with my mom to pick some things up and it just turned into an adventure. So I got to Cornell at 3:45. Not that it mattered anyway.

2.) My friend, Becca, who has been very supportive and was interested in being involved since I asked for her help, was there, right on time. And she was the only one.

3.) Sara's camera decided it was going to crap out right before we started-- in the long run it didn't really matter in terms of the audition, but unfortunately that means she's out a camera too. So we both have sickly cameras now.

4.) We waited for two hours and other than Becca, no one showed up.

I knew it was a long shot, but I guess I didn't realize it was that long of a shot. I was hoping the people I talked to, who also showed "interest" would be there and if they couldn't be, would make an effort to find a way to contact us. It just seemed like we were way too overconfident for what it was and I really hate that. I feel stupid sitting there with my little audition pieces that spent over an hour preparing and printing and our business cards that seem sort of "we think we're cooler then we are".

I just get like this when things don't go the way I want it to. I feel very let down and sort of underwhelmed. It seems like such a waste of hard work.

However, despite this, my mom being the awesome person she is helped me realize it's not the end of the world, we'll find people even if it takes a while and hopefully we'll be able to think of a way to get that going soon. I don't know what that's going to be.

Anyway.

So it goes.

I'm off to make some stuff to sell.

I have spent entirely too much time trying to get these stupid buttons to show up.. And they still haven't.

So guess what.

I'm done.

Pity Kiss Gets A Makeover

Posted by The Directors

Yes, we've been getting a lot done... If you count opening accounts on every social website known to man as getting things done. Personally I don't think it's a bad idea, if we can network and keep in touch with people it'll be a good deal.

I really like this new layout, but I'm completely inept at coding, so I'm not sure how to get the above buttons to work or make pages to make them work in terms of Blogger. So, for now, they don't work. Don't bother clicking them, you'll feel stupid. Along with that I'm trying to figure out how to get the edit button to show up and the "Add New Post" button up top, because currently I have to take the long way to start posting.

Anyway, I'm hoping this will be a little more clean and professional looking. It doesn't really matter, but you know.

As for an actual update:

Auditions are tomorrow (Thursday, February 26th)
4-6 pm
Shaw Lounge, The Commons, Cornell College

I spent an hour and a half finding, editing and preparing the parts we're going to have people cold read tomorrow, had a billion and a half pages to print and in an attempt to save time and paper, I tried to print them front to back... And somehow.

I got side to side. Don't ask me how I did it.

Yes, there was some silent cursing and because I printed these at school I didn't want to waste more of my printing allowance reprinting them. So, hopefully the text isn't so tiny no one can read them and I hope I've printed enough copies. I was going to print 10 of each, but then I thought I was overestimating the power of our awesomeness, which lead to me printing off five copies of each. I don't think it'll be a problem. I seriously doubt we'll have that many people show.

That may sound overly critical, but we are holding these on the first full day of block break, people (theater folk included) will probably be going home for the weekend and so far I really haven't had any replies to my e-mail. That doesn't necessarily mean there won't be anyone there (unless requested, I don't remember any of our high school auditions needing sign-up... It's been a while though) but I don't think it's going to be a lot.

If maybe I'm just being a dork and a lot of people do show up, I've sent what we're having them read to my e-mail and I can print off more on the Commons printer. So, issss alll gooood.

Anyway, I've wasted enough time on this. I have a few more lines to add to a scene I've been swearing I'll get done for the last three days and haven't and I need to run to Hy-Vee and see if there is some cheap juice or water I can buy to go along with the treats Sara's bringing. I don't know if there will be anyone to drink it or if Sara's choice in treats will go with what I buy-- according to my mom, I can't buy juice if she's bringing brownies... Which is exactly what I was going to get... You know, like those Capri Sun packs or those juice bottles with the twist off caps everyone used to love when they were little (or I did anyway). I guess what mom doesn't know won't kill her, because even if it is Brownies... We're getting juice, especially if it's cheap.

So, for now, enjoy the new layout and if you happen to know how to fix the above mentioned issues, that would be awesome. Because I'd like to do that.

Ta-tas-- Bodacious ta-tas!!

Pity Kiss Gets a Youtube

Posted by The Directors

Yes, that's right. We have a Youtube. I know, "wow, you guys have really joined the 21st century, welcome to the party-- you're past fashionably late"... Shut up.

Anyway, we have a director's account and hopefully as filming progresses and I have enough to edit, I can whip up a snazzy trailer for you all to take a peek at. You will be amazed. Trust me.

We haven't got anything up yet, but here's our Youtube addy nonetheless: Pity Kiss Productions on Youtube

Be amazed. Actually don't... Just friend us, I promise once I figure out how to make the background all awesome and stuff and all that, I will.

I *would* update our profile picture with one of our logos, but Youtube thinks you should have an account open for 48 hours before they let you upload one. Why, I don't know, but it's annoying me. Because I actually have a profile pic for a change.

It happens to be the one you can view to the right of all of this rambling. My wonderful father, the only professional involved, took time out of his busy schedule to create some logo options for the business cards Sara and I would like to have available at the auditions. He gave us some awesome ones and although the one you see is not the one we're using for our cards, we'll be using it in general for these things (blog, FB group, etc.) I like it a lot, actually. I'm looking forward to having the finished cards, despite it being a different logo. I quite like this one, but the one we went with was simple and probably could fit a ton more info, as Sara and I have a lot we'd like to put on there.

Either way, this one will get it's use... I'll probably incorporate it into the opening credits for Baroness when I edit, it can be our official logo, while the logo on the cards is the "unofficial, official logo.

Anyway, I've got things to do to get ready for my last exam for my class and then I have stuff that needs finishing for Thursday.

Adios!

Auditions!!!!!!!

Posted by The Directors

Too bad I didn't have the opportunity to print it in color, but I only have access to Black and White printers right now. Oh well. It doesn't look terrible in B&W just not as eye-catching.

In any case, I'm nervous because I sent an e-mail about the auditions to one of the theater professors yesterday and left my inbox open while I worked, hoping I would catch him at a good time to reply. You know, just to let me know if he thought it was a terrible idea and wouldn't forward it to the theater interest group, or if he thought it was great and forwarded it to the theater interest group. Every time I got an e-mail my heart stopped and I got really nervous it was him.

But no. The man has not replied. At all.

You've got to understand, this is the first time I've really put anything out to the public, as in looking for help. I was all freaked out trying to figure out if I was allowed to reserve a room, considering I have no student to back me. The woman was really nice and let me reserve anyway, sponsoring it with the Info Desk name, rather than make me beg. So we've got the room from 4-6pm and hopefully we'll have some peeps show up. I'm hoping I don't have to actually act if we only get a few responses. I would just like to know either way, so I have at least a little time to find another way to get the word out.

Which is the reason for the above poster. I have to come back to The Commons later today, so as to get more permission from the lady that was nice before. One of the girls there is a girl in my math class, she couldn't approve it right away because I don't have a sponsoring group, but she seems optimistic that the head honcho will approve them,if she's already approved my room reservation. Plus, I've seen a few other posters that were approved by the Info Desk... So. We'll see. I'll come back after class today and see how that goes.

If not, I'll have to find some other way to get these posted.

I feel kind of lame not having the script done, but, I think we're well on the way. Despite my ADD when writing, I think I'm making progress. Luckily, afternoon class is short today and I'll be able to get more done today. Plus Sara and I are getting together to choose scenes that need to be cleaned up and prepared for Thursday.

I'm starting to feel like a professional... At least in the sense we're kicking booty in the advertising department. It certainly isn't like we're not trying. Too bad we don't have a casting director and access to big name stars everywhere. Who would I want to play Evander if I could choose any actor in the world? I don't know, but Paul Bettany would frigging well be somewhere in this movie. No. Discussion.

Until the next update!

Lists

Posted by The Directors

I feel like I need to organize everything that needs to be done to get this movie going.

So much planning, so little time, so much guilt for trying to work on the script while in school. I do want to do it this summer though and I think everyone involved would like to see it come to fruition at some point, preferably sooner, since I won't shut up about it.

Personally, I would like to get the script complete by May 25th... I believe I will be finishing up my final class, so I'm thinking this will be OK. I just have to work on it a bit more--- passionately?-- Then I have been. I know on my end, it's been hard to focus because every time I try to work on it, I become guilty that I haven't done enough to study for my math class. Even though, hours of study rarely help me-- Buuut, I do it anyway.

Along with this completion date, then begins ultimate planning time. Hardcore and I don't mean this lightly. Anyone involved is either going to be sitting down with Sara and I and we're going to let them know what we need done, or they will be e-mailed/corresponded with until they don't want to check their inboxes every again.

We're also going to need a lot of equipment too

Video Camera:

I know it seems kind of ridiculous that we're trying to make a film and we're missing a key piece of technology, but as I've said previously, I'm hoping to save some money after Greece to purchase a new one. I would like to get a high quality camera to replace the one I broke, but of course those are pricey. My dad had a lead on what may be a surprising dip in price. My only problem is that with most high-def cameras, the video is saved directly onto the camera which you then offload onto your computer. With standard cameras, you have other options-- Mini dv, CDs, that way you have a physical back-up, just in case. If your computer goes kaput, then too bad. We'll have to see if my dad's lead comes through.

Lighting Equipment

As much as I wish I had $3,000 to spend on lighting kits... Let's face it, if I had $3,000 I would be spending it on something much more practical... Like a house. But, Sara has some connections that may allow us to have proper lighting for a change. True to my nature though, I never assume or oblige people into sharing their hard earned property. I will, however, gladly accept anything that's offered. We're hoping to make a softbox out of PVC and the like for our night shots and anything else that requires more exact lighting then-- I don't know... Firelight.

Because I refuse to light any of my films by candlelight ever again... Ever. Again.

Boom & Mic

Hopefully whatever camera I have purchased by the end of May, early June has a decent microphone. Just in case we can't get a separate one to plug into the camera itself. I think we could probably find a good, inexpensive one at Radioshack or Best Buy. Hopefully. I found a few but since I'm looking online I can't be sure they're compatible with the camera-- since we don't have one yet. We might have to get this all at once unless the microphone has a standard jack to plug into it. We can make a boom for it from an old broom handle or something similar. Windscreens can't be more than a few dollars, I'll be sure to look into it.

Dollys, Tracks, Glidecam etc.

We have access to a dolly/track, which may have to be lengthened a bit for our purposes, but I can't imagine that would be too difficult if the majority if it is already complete. We need to assmble a crane for our opening shot, which I don't think will be too difficult. My only concern is how to attach the camera. When I was at U of I, they had one that had a little "shelf" that you screwed the bottom of the camera onto and it would balance itself out so that when you raise and lower it, it doesn't tip or go the entirely wrong direction. I have no idea how to do that under $30... The one at U of I was over $400 and they made you sign in blood and the indenturment of your first born to check it out. Hoepfully people more technically inclined than myself (which is anyone) can figured it out. As for the glidecam, we definitely need one or something as close to a glidecam as possible. It will allow us to rotate the camera on a pole to keep the shot smooth, but the kicker is the pole is attached to a vest or a contraption that rests over the shoulders of the DP so they are somewhat hands free and have something to balance it against. We're probably going to have to find a pattern for that, which-- there's a site that sells them, but Sara and I will have to see if there are kind souls out there that will take pity on poor moveimakers such as ourselves and give it to us for free.

Just to be clear... Professional Glidecams cost aaround $1500+. U of I didn't have one until the fall of 2007 and I wasn't even allowed to touch it.

Free is not necessarily evil.

Props

Are going to have to be listed after we finish the script. Who knows what we'll need. I'll be sure to update as soon as we find out.

Costumes

The good news is that I've found patterns that will work for our purposes and not only that, these patterns, which are normally between $8-20 are on sale for 5 for $5 today. So my mom and I are going to go pick those up and any little special things that might also be on sale. Fabric is on sale too, but since we're still looking for bodies to put into the costumes, it's probably not prudent to buy it now. I wish I could that, that would make life a little easier. Not that I could afford much of it right now anyway. Thanks to work cutting my hours, my check is hella smaller than I was hoping. So not a lot of purchasing of nice things for a while, since I have to restart saving for my own travels come April.

Major annoyance for me.

Well, I must be going, this is just the beginning folks. I'm hoping to sit down with Sara sometime and see what kind of money we're willing to pay, since we're both lacking in financial fortitude, it'll be fine though. As long as I do some fancy saving, we're going to do just fine.

Cheap High-Def? Anyone, anyone?

Posted by The Directors

Today has been rather rainy, though spring seems to be right around the corner (who would have thought? It's February!). The temperature was more than bearable. Were it not raining, I would be working on the script outside, unfortunately... It's raining.

I've been trying to visualize how this film is going to look in the long run. It's going to be difficult filming some of these scenes as they require buildings that 1.) Are not located in Iowa 2.) Would never let a bunch of amateur filmmakers use in a million years. 3.) Even if they did, it would be for a considerable amount of money, that we do not have.

I'm sensing a lot of close ups in the movie, buuuuut, it would not be the first time a director did such a thing. I personally (and I know I'm not alone in this) just want everything to look as professional as possible.

Also looking into possibly purchasing a high-def camera, though my priorities about what I'm saving money for will have to be sorted out. I had a camera that was perfectly acceptable, had wonderful definition for what it was and somehow I spilled something on the battery port and now it won't connect with the battery. I don't know if this is something I did, or something someone did while visiting me, as I had it in a stupid spot. Doesn't really matter, the point is, now the camera won't turn on with the battery, it has to be plugged in, which kind of defeats the purpose of a camcorder anyway.

Despite feeling stupid for my idiocy, I need to find something of equal or better value for a price that I won't choke on. Which at this very moment, is everything. I'll have to see what I can save up before May (hardyhar) as I've had a few setbacks this month financially. I've had to restart saving a few times and as I'm traveling to Greece in April, I don't know what I'll have to put towards the buying of pretties for people. *shrugs*

Not really anyone's problem but my own. But, I thought I'd throw that out there, as we'll be looking for something to film with (kind of important).

We had access to a beautiful HDX but alas... That friend disappeared and I don't know how it's going to work out. If at all.

In brighter, happier news, despite all of the confusion and sudden decsions on waiting to work on the film till this summer, we've gotten our art director back-- he's also an "acting monkey" as he likes to call himself as he will be playing one of our leads this summer. He will be working on our storyboards and will hopefully in the next few weeks or sooner, have a poster done up for us that we can post to get some interest ;0) I'm looking forward to seeing it.

So, that's all for now. Bemoanings of needing equipment and the like-- I think we'll be able to make any physical equipment (dollys, mounts and the like) on our own for under $30 each, hopefully. We still need lighting equipment and a camera, but on the bright side we have all of the editing equipment we need as I have Final Cut and so on from my cinema days at Iowa.

Oh, how I've longed to use them! I wish I were a cinema major still, some days and then I remember why it didn't work out.

Well, until the next "update"

Pity Kiss Productions is Born!

Posted by The Directors

Hello all!

Welcome to the blog of Pity Kiss Productions, the merger of Gimpy Seal Productions (Jaina) and Much Amok Films (Sara). In our recent endeavors to create, write and hopefully film a script, we've decided to keep a blog to update everyone on our latest happenings. Whether it be a completed scene or (dare I say it?) additions to the cast and crew (if that ever happens).

We will also be glad to hear suggestions about some of the issues we're bound to have, considering we're writing a historical fiction set in the 17th century England... Did we mention we have no budget?

We'll also be taking donations ;0)

Anyway, if you're interested, feel free to keep an eye on our blog for the latest updates and feel free to leave suggestions for problems we may encounter, we'll certainly need it. Also, if you're in our area, let us know if you'd like to help, we'll need all the cast and crew we can get!

Until then!

~Jaina (Gimpy Seal Productions)

P.S. For those of you who were there for the first projects completed by Gimpy Seal and Much Amok, you'll certainly understand our umbrella name :0D
