So... The auditions didn't go as hoped. Despite the hard work we put into making it a success. Although it didn't turn out that well-- it wasn't a complete disaster.
Here's what happened:
1.) I ended up running late, despite doing my best to get to Cornell at 3:30. Life called and I had to run to Iowa City with my mom to pick some things up and it just turned into an adventure. So I got to Cornell at 3:45. Not that it mattered anyway.
2.) My friend, Becca, who has been very supportive and was interested in being involved since I asked for her help, was there, right on time. And she was the only one.
3.) Sara's camera decided it was going to crap out right before we started-- in the long run it didn't really matter in terms of the audition, but unfortunately that means she's out a camera too. So we both have sickly cameras now.
4.) We waited for two hours and other than Becca, no one showed up.
I knew it was a long shot, but I guess I didn't realize it was that long of a shot. I was hoping the people I talked to, who also showed "interest" would be there and if they couldn't be, would make an effort to find a way to contact us. It just seemed like we were way too overconfident for what it was and I really hate that. I feel stupid sitting there with my little audition pieces that spent over an hour preparing and printing and our business cards that seem sort of "we think we're cooler then we are".
I just get like this when things don't go the way I want it to. I feel very let down and sort of underwhelmed. It seems like such a waste of hard work.
However, despite this, my mom being the awesome person she is helped me realize it's not the end of the world, we'll find people even if it takes a while and hopefully we'll be able to think of a way to get that going soon. I don't know what that's going to be.
Anyway.
So it goes.
I'm off to make some stuff to sell.

"That's so admirable!"
Note: If you are interested in helping us create this monsterpiece, please remember it will require a great deal of commitment. This does not mean Sara and I are opposed to scheduling around jobs and real life, as we have them too. Just remember, if you make the commitment, you will be expected to show up, do what you've said you will and when it is scheduled. I do not want to waste my time or anyone else's time as we have precious little of it.
Thank you for your understanding.
